# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • They come together in 15 minutes without any baking, which means you can have a batch ready before you finish your coffee.
  • The hojicha gives you a subtle earthy warmth that makes you feel like you're treating yourself, even though it's basically just whole foods.
  • They actually keep you satisfied between meals instead of giving you a crash an hour later.
02 -
  • If your mixture crumbles when you try to roll it, you needed more moisture. Next time, add water gradually instead of all at once.
  • Damp hands really do make the difference between a smooth rolling experience and a sticky frustration.
  • These balls taste better after they've chilled for at least an hour, so patience here is rewarded.
03 -
  • If you make these regularly, keep your hojicha powder in an airtight container away from light so it stays fresh and vibrant.
  • Slightly soft dates work better than hard ones, so if yours feel like rocks, run warm water over them for a minute first.
